TATHATA! EST! THELEMA!
BRIEF INTRODUCTION: I completed my 77th year young last November 11 and have been writing since I was in my teens, thanks to the pop music revolution. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1970 with a B.A. in English Literature. Once out of college, I was uncertain of the direction my writing should take. Early on, I became acquainted with The Book of the Law by Aleister Crowley and it had a profound effect on me. I also thank Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert (Ram Dass) for opening up my mind to alternative forms of consciousness. In addition, poetic inspiration became a reality I could embrace wholeheartedly, for I had noticed the occasional extra-personal nature in the arrival of some of "my?" various inspired thoughts.
However, this had a price, and the loss of my Muse, imagined or otherwise, found me in and out of institutions in the early 70s. As I gradually recovered, one direction I chose for my life as a writer was found in a need to express why Faith made sense, and why we have a right to be well. I knew we had that right, but not how to express it. My acquaintance with Thelema is what led me into the Light. The other major influence was a text called The Secret of the Golden Flower, translated by Richard Wilhelm with a commentary by C.G. Jung. Specifically, this text showed me the equivalence between Light and Will.
I will never apologize for being repetitious, nor for the reuse of numerous ideas from one poem to another. Thanks to my love for Surrealistic and Stream of Consciousness writing, my Graphomania has revealed something wonderful, that Light does indeed Own every Identity, and thereby, also all the Word that comes into usage. So, my repetition, necessary to my exposition, simply continues to bear fruit. And what a compelling idea it is, that the Will is Light, and the Light is Will. Does that not apply to Everything, almost by definition? One note concerning the Graphomania, for those of the psychological perspective, yes, I had left temporal petit mal epilepsy as a child.
This book is largely Metaphysics, attempting to bridge the gaps between the various disciplines of science, medicine, religion, including psychology and Buddhism. It is mostly written in a stream of consciousness free verse that draws information from the various disciplines, attempting to create a syncretic world-view. This Weltanshauung is made possible through a number of logical speculations, which prove fundamentally that the numerous disciplines owe all of their respective definitions to an omnipresent true will, found in the light and its thusness. Numerous love song/poems are also included, basically in praise of the Muses who inspire.
I describe the book in multiple terms, like a "Metaphysicians Tome," and the "Muses Companion," as well as it's being, "a hidden treasury of light koans," because it is all that. To the Muse, or would-be Muse, this work has traveled with the Inspired, as a record of her Inspiration. To the Metaphysician, it is as if a Dialectical Primer, with innumerable suggestions, even some errors, to Guide their Erudition through discussions, toward any possible Enlightenment. Plus, in the body of the text are numerous Haiku, which seen together, sum up the myriad ways to appreciate the "Will's" personality found in the "Light's" Identifying Nature.
